A world free of abuse and violence against children and youth.
Mission and aims
YouthEngage.com, as one of the empowerment programs of the WWSF Children-Youth section, has a mission to create a global culture for prevention of abuse and violence against children and young people.
The mission is translated into the following aims:
- To empower young people to get involved in issues that affect them
- To mobilize children and young people through youth groups, scout movements, sports clubs, school programs, working children’s organizations and children’s parliaments to become prevention actors
- To build capacity, better skills and increase knowledge for prevention, using the WWSF guide “Prevention is Key“
- To promote inter-youth dialogues and education to help reduce/end violence against and among young people
- To promote and defend the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)
- To value the contributions of young people in achieving positive change
- To share links to other education and support programs, conferences and events
- To invite young people to sign a pledge to first prevent, and not condone or remain silent, about abuse and violence against themselves and others
- To encourage government collaboration with young people and their organizations to set up structures for child/youth participation
- To preserve the dignity and safety of children and young people
